New Mexican artist Barbara Holloway creates handwoven artwear that reflect the subtle but strong natural colors surrounding her.

I hand weave all of my clothing fabrics on 8-harness foot-powered floor looms with plant and micro-fiber yarns, specifically rayon chenille, cotton and bamboo. I warp the looms, weave the fabrics, wash, dry, steam press, cut, serge, sew and hand-embellish each garment. I have developed my weave structures and colorways over decades.

Most of my art learning was derived from apprenticing with other weavers. My class study was random classes. I worked with all of the past owners of the Santa Fe Weaving Gallery for a total of 25 years. I worked producing garments and in gallery sales. I have sold my work in art shows exclusively since 2004. I have done hundreds of shows. I currently sell all of my work myself at art shows. I do not sell in any galleries.
