I mix my own colors like watercolors to get the highlighted effects. Then I either use a wax resist method to fill in the impressions or hand paint using a Japanese paint brush to blacken the impressions and continue to do the dying so it has highlights and different colors. Then proceed to use a sealer to finish the front and back of the belts.

I have been specializing in the study of fine art since the 8th grade when I first won an award for my artwork. Since then I have studied privately, in classes and on my own, in many different art mediums. I have also taught many different forms of art since the 1960’s.  Studying so many different forms of art has led to the development of my own style which integrates the use of my studies. Follows are some of the formal schools that I have attended:

High School of Art & Design-New York City

State University College at Buffalo

University of Colorado- Boulder

University of Northern Colorado

Ambassador School of Lithography-Denver, Co.

Santa Fe Community College

University of New Mexico

One person art shows starting in New York City in 1968. I continue to sell my work in NYC. My work is represented around the world.

I have done leather work since 1968 and sculpture and metal work since I was in High School where I was a sculpture major.

I have supported myself as a commercial artist and artist/artisan for over the last 45 years.

I participate in many art shows each year. Some of the local art shows that I have been in are the Challenge NM, Girl’s, Inc. and both Fiesta shows, Council for the Arts and the Northern New Mexico Fine Arts and Crafts Guild shows. I have also shown with special theme shows with Miniatures, etc.

I have shown my work mostly in Arizona, Kansas, Texas and Colorado through galleries and art shows.
