I was first introduced to the joys of painting as a child of ten years old. A local artist gave lessons which provided me with foundational knowledge of working with oil paints. Through the years I would circle back to painting, but my creative impulses weren't confined to producing a piece of art.

When I planted a garden, I focused on the composition and color palette of the plants. Decorating cakes became an art form. Working with young children in an atelier gave me a daily routine to explore techniques and a variety of media.

In 2019 my husband and I retired and moved to Santa Fe. I finally had the luxury of time and a space for my art materials. I dove back into creating artwork. Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer and for a year and a half did nothing creatively. I am grateful to be cancer free now.

With renewed energy and inspiration, I spend at least two hours in the studio each day. I realized during this new creative phase that when I finished my daily engagement, I had a sense of joy. Every day I wake up and look forward to my time in the studio. My style and technique are evolving just like I am. My new pieces literally convey “joy”. Each piece has the word somewhere on the canvas as a reminder for me to live a joyful life.

Creating art feeds my soul and brings me joy each day. I hope my work brings joy to you, too.
